The science of deafness

Earlier this year NDCS Scotland, in partnership with the Scottish Minority Deaf Children’s Society, held an information day for black and minority ethnic (BME) families of deaf children.

The day focused on medical research into deafness, and several medical professionals answered questions about neurotrophic treatments, brain stem implants, the role of speech and language therapy, genetic counselling, and many more topics.

One dad who attended told us, “I liked the informal setting and the chance to discuss issues with the professionals themselves”.

All in all, a success!
